Infant Care at Mulberry Learning

Every baby is cared for with warmth and attentiveness

At Mulberry Learning, our Infant Care programme provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every infant is cared for with warmth and attentiveness, while being given meaningful opportunities to explore the world around them.

We understand that entrusting your baby to someone else’s care is an important decision. Our educators work closely with families to understand each child’s individual routines, needs and developmental milestones, providing parents with greater confidence and peace of mind throughout the day.

More than just infant care

Learning begins from the very start

Even during infancy, children are constantly observing, listening, touching, moving and forming connections with the people and environment around them.

Develop secure and trusting relationships with their caregivers — the foundation for everything that follows.

🤲

Sensory exploration

Explore through sensory and hands-on experiences that invite touching, reaching and discovering.

🕰️

Our approach

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach

At Mulberry Learning, we see every child as curious, capable and full of potential.

01

We observe first

Our educators observe each infant’s interests, responses and developmental progress before creating age-appropriate experiences that encourage further exploration.

02

We never rush

Rather than rushing children through predetermined activities, we provide them with the time, space and encouragement to discover at their own pace.

03

The room invites

Our learning environments are intentionally designed to be calm, engaging and inviting, encouraging infants to interact with different materials, textures, sounds and experiences.

Individualised care

Every baby is different

That is why we place strong emphasis on understanding each infant’s individual routines and developmental needs. Our educators pay close attention to:

  • Feeding and dietary routines
  • Sleep and rest patterns
  • Hygiene and personal care
  • Emotional comfort and attachment
  • Physical and developmental milestones
  • Individual interests and responses

Through close communication between educators and parents, we aim to create consistency between home and school, helping each child feel safe, comfortable and secure.

Learning through the senses

Sensory exploration, every day

For infants, some of the most powerful learning happens through their senses. Throughout the day, children are introduced to carefully planned sensory experiences involving different:

  • Textures
  • Colours
  • Sounds
  • Movements
  • Natural Materials
  • Music
  • Stories

These experiences encourage infants to observe, reach, grasp, listen, move and respond — supporting their cognitive, physical and sensory development while nurturing their natural curiosity.

Building early communication

Long before the first word

Long before children speak their first words, they are already communicating. Our educators engage infants through conversations, facial expressions, songs, storytelling, gestures and responsive interactions throughout the day.

By consistently responding to an infant’s sounds, expressions and gestures, educators help children understand that their attempts to communicate are heard and valued — an important foundation for future language and social development.

A safe space to move and grow

Room to reach, roll and walk

Physical development plays an important role during infancy. Our environment provides age-appropriate opportunities for infants to practise important movements:

  • Reaching
  • Rolling
  • Sitting
  • Crawling
  • Standing
  • Walking

Through supervised movement and play, children gradually develop coordination, balance, strength and confidence — with the freedom to explore within a safe, thoughtfully prepared environment.

Strong partnerships with parents

Parents know their children best

We believe that providing excellent infant care requires a strong partnership between families and educators.

  • Regular communication about routines, preferences and development
  • Daily updates on your child’s experiences and progress
  • A consistent, supportive environment across home and school

Together, we create a consistent and supportive environment during these important early years.
